Socolas is a growing network of corporate law practitioners and organizations committed to establish legal access on corporate matters for social enterprises, remote based micro-small & medium enterprises and social initiatives supported by strong pro bono culture.

Established in 2015, Socolas is currently supported by lawyers, in-house counsels, notary and associates in global development agencies various organization. Since its establishment, Socolas aims to facilitate pro-bono interest of individuals and organizations with suitable clients while, in parallel, breaking barriers of perception on corporate legal practitioners.

MAKING A CASE FOR CONSERVATION

Can organizations establish a land-trust to make a case for conservation? Socolas team advised a network of conservationists in their journey to make a business case for conservation ideas to save one of the most critical environmental landscape in Indonesia.

Socolas are involved in the discussion on the policy reform for Social entrepreneurship. The team provided insights on existing regulations and challenges on the ground from social entrepreneurs’ perspective – starting from the most practical issues such as taxation and licensing problem to shares ownership problems to maintain power symmetry.

THE MILLION DOLLAR QUESTION: HOW TO FUNDRAISE EFFECTIVELY

Governance and legal reform efforts in Indonesia are anchored by leading social initiatives and organizations. In reality, they are struggling to fundraise and select investors to maintain their independency. In collaboration with leading law firms in Indonesia, Socolas is discussing ways to sustainably funds the effort on monitoring governance and legal reform in Indonesia in order to make CSO and NGO with specific focus has long term and sustainable source of funding.
